Synopsis
Kintama Hunt Saga
Turbo Granny Arc
After ending things with her conceited boyfriend, Momo returns to class and informs Miko and Muko, who had previously warned her against dating him. She explains that she only agreed to go out with him because he resembled actor Ken Takakura. This reasoning irritates Miko, who remarks that the era of tough, hard-boiled men like her favorite actor is long gone.
Later, while wandering the hallways, Miko and Muko notice Momo arguing with a nerdy student from Class 2-C. They assume she has moved on from her Ken Takakura lookalike to a completely different type. However, Miko is unbothered by his appearance and has no objections.
Acrobatic Silky
Miko and Muko notice that Ayase has been unusually quiet and find it suspicious that she hasn’t replied to Miko’s messages or attended school the day before. Muko speculates that Momo might have gone back to her ex-boyfriend, only to be dumped again and break her phone in frustration, a theory Miko agrees with. As they watch Momo suddenly scream and collapse, they suspect she is secretly trying to meet with Okarun to discuss aliens.
During lunchtime, Momo and Takakura accidentally bump into each other and share an unexpected kiss. Miko and Muko, who were already nearby, are shocked to see her with a new romantic interest just days after her breakup, explaining her strange behavior. The two awkwardly insult each other before leaving, which only convinces Momo’s friends that they are much closer than they let on. Later, in class, Miko teases Ayase by announcing to their classmates that she kissed a nerd and even points him out when he enters the room. Despite Momo’s insistence that nothing happened, Miko keeps provoking her. When Momo snaps at Okarun and tells him to leave, Miko is taken aback by her harshness and comments that if he was just a friend, she wouldn’t have reacted that way. She also notes that Momo has never behaved like this before.
The following day, Momo confides in Miko that Okarun has been avoiding her, leaving her confused about his behavior. Miko reassures her that he is a good person, mentioning that, according to a classmate from 2-C, he even fought a student who had been spreading rumors about her. Still, Momo struggles to understand why he is keeping his distance.
Serpo Arc
Since Okarun is preoccupied with his school report, Momo updates her friends about him and suggests they have lunch together. However, she can’t shake off an uneasy feeling about the situation, and the thought of him possibly dating Shiratori suddenly crosses her mind. She decides to buy a drink, and Miko asks her to get one for her as well. When Momo returns, she has just witnessed Okarun standing over Aira behind the school. Frustrated, she casually mentions that she “gave the drinks to the ground,” which Miko and Muko take as a joke. As she slams her head on the desk, lost in thought, they grow more concerned. Later, during biology class, Momo stares at the mantis shrimp in its tank and strangely connects with its destructive nature. As her mind spirals over thoughts of Takakura and Shiratori, she starts punching herself in the face repeatedly. Miko and Muko are horrified, concluding that she must have been possessed by the spirit of the mantis shrimp.
After the battle against the Serpo Dover Demon Nessie, Momo, Okarun, and Aira return from Empty Space, only to find themselves nearly naked in front of the entire school. In a panic, they flee and take refuge in Queen’s nursery. Just as Momo is about to express her feelings to Ken, Miko and Muko burst into the room, frantically explaining that she mysteriously vanished during class. Their friend Kana even spotted her hugging Okarun while they were both naked in front of Class D. Rather than attempting to explain the bizarre situation, Momo remains silent. Seizing the moment, Miko enthusiastically pieces everything together, concluding that Momo and Aira engaged in a nude gladiatorial battle for Takakura’s affection. Miko further insists that Momo had been training earlier by studying the mantis shrimp’s punches, all to defeat Aira in combat. She loudly proclaims that Ayase’s odd behavior lately is due to her jealousy over Okarun, making the situation even more embarrassing. Unable to handle the mounting humiliation, Momo forcefully silences Miko before she can say anything else in front of Ken.
Evil Eye Arc
Momo tells Miko and Muko that she’s planning to get a part-time job. When Miko asks why, Momo explains that she needs to save money to repair her house, which has been suffering from the Evil Eye’s antics. However, Miko insists that she should buy a new phone instead so they can stay in touch, as she finds it hard to believe her house is really that cold. Muko mentions that Ririna is looking for help at her job, and Miko recalls that she works at a restaurant. Momo is eager to start right away, but Miko worries that her strong-willed personality will make it difficult for her to stick with it. She hesitates to recommend her to Ririna if she’s just going to quit. However, Momo insists that she’s a responsible adult now. Miko and Muko exchange knowing smiles, realizing that Momo has unknowingly signed up to work at a maid café.
Later, Miko and Muko visit Class 2-C and inform Okarun that Ayase is absent. He acknowledges this and gets up to leave, but the two girls suddenly jump on him and drag him along despite his protests. Outside of school, Okarun tells them that he doesn’t go on dates, but they clarify that this isn’t one—though he continues to see it that way. Miko challenges his logic, asking if he also considers Jiji and Momo having tea together a date, which he denies, frustrating her with his inconsistency. They lead him to the Moe Moe Kikoho café, where he refuses to drink anything. Annoyed, Miko brushes it off and takes him inside. Upon spotting Momo in a maid outfit, Okarun turns bright red, and Miko playfully asks her to serve them. Momo, however, barely acknowledges them and simply tells them to follow her. Miko then calls over another worker, reprimanding Momo for her lackluster attitude.
At their table, Miko asks Okarun again if he wants to order a drink since they need to place an order. This time, he agrees, saying that since Momo is working hard, he’ll support her. However, this only irritates Momo, as he refused just moments earlier. While serving their tea, Momo performs a chant, but Miko forces her to add more enthusiasm, saying she needs to focus and put her heart into it—further aggravating her. In the end, they all perform the Moe Moe Tri-Beam pose for a group picture. Momo vows to get revenge for their teasing, but Miko and Muko laugh it off, already satisfied with the numerous photos they took of her in her maid outfit. Unexpectedly, Okarun decides to stay, causing the two girls to blush as they realize his intentions. Teasingly, they wish the “lovers” a fun time before leaving.
Kaiju Arc
Miko and Muko make a brief appearance in class when the Evil Eye takes control of Jiji and dramatically declares his intent to kill all humans, though no one seems to take him seriously. Later, the two girls approach Momo, curious if Jiji was actually serious, given how persistent he was about it. Muko speculates that he might be possessed by the apartment-complex ghost and could even have the golden ball, which catches Ayase off guard. Noticing her surprise, Miko realizes it’s because she doesn’t have a phone and shows her their group chat, which has recently been filled with discussions about the apartment-complex spirit.
Space Globalist Arc
Kinta Sakata wanders around the school, eager to show off his exaggerated injuries to his friends. However, despite searching, he can’t seem to find them anywhere. Meanwhile, Miko, Muko, and Ririna are briefly seen chatting together in class 2-C.
Notes
- Miko is a second-year student at Kami High School, which suggests that she is around 16 or 17 years old.
