Bamora | Dandadan Wiki (English)

Bamora (バモラ Viz: Vamola) plays a significant role in Dandadan, notably acting as the primary antagonist during the Kaiju Arc.

Originating from the Sumerian race, she is the only known survivor of her people. After escaping an invasion that devastated her home planet, Bamora arrives on Earth, determined to fulfill the final wish of her adoptive mother: to seek out a life partner capable of helping her continue the Sumerian lineage. This mission puts her at odds with Momo, Okarun, and their companions, resulting in a series of conflicts. Despite the challenges, Bamora eventually selects Okarun as her future husband, marking the culmination of her search.

Appearance

In Anime and Original Manga

As a member of the Sumerian race, Bamora’s physical features closely resemble those of a young human girl, with a slender physique and short blonde hair. Her humanoid appearance makes her nearly indistinguishable from Earthlings, with the exception of two distinct traits: a pair of antennae protruding from the top of her head and vibrant green eyes that reflect light in the shape of stars. Her beauty is widely acknowledged, especially by the boys who take notice of her.

Bamora typically dons a sleek, form-fitting bodysuit in white and black, designed to cover most of her body except for her shoulders and thighs. However, this outfit is usually hidden beneath her kaiju suit, which serves both as armor and a disguise.

After Seiko arranged for Bamora to enroll at Kami High as an exchange student, she adapted her kaiju suit to mimic Momo’s school uniform. While the overall design replicates the standard uniform, the head of her kaiju suit remains intact, functioning as either a hood or helmet. More recently, Bamora has switched from wearing Momo’s sweater to the school blazer, which she has modified by adding a hood styled to resemble the head of her kaiju suit.

Personality

Bamora is a kind-hearted and selfless young girl whose compassion often drives her to put others before herself. Her empathy is vividly demonstrated when she defies orders from Banga, Tome, and Aja, risking her own safety to help the male Sumerians escape from their grim fate of becoming fuel for the Kur’s Big Mamas. Despite the terror the Kur instill in her, Bamora shows great bravery by standing alongside Momo and her allies in the fight to protect Earth from invasion.

Following her adoptive mother’s wish for her to find a strong husband capable of preserving the Sumerian bloodline, Bamora sought a partner whose strength could surpass her own in battle. Her approach, however, was often impulsive—immediately engaging anyone she encountered in combat to gauge their power upon her arrival on Earth. Although she ultimately chose Okarun as her partner, she respects the strength of others as well, such as Kinta, who initially overpowered the Spatial Carving Kur during their confrontation. Despite her determination to fulfill her mother’s request, Bamora has little understanding of romantic relationships, having been raised exclusively among women. Her only knowledge of love comes from Banga’s words, leaving her confused when witnessing a couple kiss and realizing that romantic bonds involve more than physical prowess.

Additionally, Bamora has a deep appreciation for Earth’s culinary delights, eagerly devouring any food she is offered. Her favorite dish is takoyaki, which she adores so much that she often repeats its name, despite its unfamiliarity within the Japanese language.

Background

Bamora’s early life was marked by tragedy when the Kur, an alien terrorist army, launched a catastrophic assault on her home planet, Sumer. Rescued during the invasion by Banga, she became the only surviving child of her race to escape. Though Banga refused to be acknowledged as a mother, Bamora came to regard her as one due to the care and protection she provided.

As she grew older, Bamora, Banga, and their comrades, Tome and Aja, became the last survivors of the resistance after a surprise ambush decimated their forces. Trapped in a cave with limited options, Bamora, overcome with despair and fearing capture, pleaded with Banga to end her life using her rifle. Banga, though also weighed down by hopelessness, remembered the existence of the Sumerian pyramid—an ancient structure capable of transporting individuals to their secondary homeland, Earth—rekindling a glimmer of hope.

Determined to escape, the group fought their way through the Kur’s forces until they reached the pyramid, which had been transformed into a prison for the male Sumerians. Heartbroken by their suffering, Bamora seized the opportunity to unlock the restraints of one prisoner, igniting a chaotic uprising as the Kur opened fire on the escaping captives. Meanwhile, Banga acquired an exosuit resembling the god of Sumer and rallied the male Sumerians to fight alongside her. Amid the ensuing turmoil, Bamora and Banga reached the pyramid’s gateway, only to discover that the portal had just enough power to transport one person.

Despite Bamora’s protests, Banga pushed her through the gateway, entrusting her with her exosuit and urging her to find a strong husband on Earth to continue the Sumerian bloodline. As Bamora vanished into the portal, Banga’s final words echoed in her ears, expressing the love she had for the child she had saved and raised against the backdrop of war.

Equipment

Bamora

Bamora’s primary combat tool is a technologically advanced exosuit, a gift from her adoptive mother, Banga, just before they were separated.

This exosuit takes inspiration from the Sumerian god, portrayed as a kaiju, and features a flexible, spring-like body that enhances mobility and agility. Distinct characteristics include clawed hands with four fingers, three-toed feet, and muscular thighs designed for both stability and strength. The head of the exosuit has a prominent dark line that runs vertically from the top of the skull to the eyes, branching into two additional lines that trace down to the jaw. Originally, the suit was equipped with three horns—two protruding from the top of the head and one on the nose. However, only the nasal horn remains after sustaining severe damage during a fierce confrontation with Kinta, who piloted the Great Kinta Bodhisattva, Zeta Version. One practical feature of the exosuit is its mouth, which can open wide, allowing Bamora to extend her head outside the suit, enabling her to navigate her surroundings without fully exiting the protective armor.

Capabilities

Heads-Up Display

The exosuit integrates an advanced heads-up display that provides Bamora with real-time environmental analysis. This system enhances her situational awareness, offering tactical insights and information that aid her during combat, ensuring she can react swiftly and efficiently to her surroundings.

Heart-Pounding Hidden Mode

Through this unique function, the exosuit grants Bamora the ability to access the Empty Space, a dimension beyond ordinary perception. This capability allows her to move swiftly and evade attacks by slipping into an alternate plane of existence, offering both offensive and defensive advantages during battle.

Enhanced Strength

The exosuit greatly amplifies Bamora’s physical power, enabling her to deliver blows of immense force. A single punch is potent enough to hurl a full-grown bear several meters through the air. Furthermore, this enhanced strength allows her to overpower humans whose bodies have been augmented with yokai abilities, demonstrating the exosuit’s effectiveness against opponents with superhuman attributes.

Enhanced Durability

Constructed with advanced materials, the exosuit is highly resistant to damage, capable of enduring intense physical attacks without compromising its functionality. It withstood a full-speed charging assault from Okarun and sustained continuous strikes from Kinta, Momo, and Aira while they controlled the Great Kinta Bodhisattva. Even a powerful powerbomb maneuver, which created a massive crater upon impact, caused only minor damage—the destruction of one horn—while the rest of the suit remained fully operational. Additionally, Bamora emerged uninjured after ejecting from the suit, highlighting its protective capabilities. The Kur, who once piloted a Spatial Carving Exosuit, recognized the suit’s extraordinary durability, expressing admiration for its ability to remain intact even when Tokyo Tower was wielded as a weapon by Kinta’s mecha.

Tail

The exosuit is equipped with a fully functional tail that the wearer can utilize during combat. This appendage adds versatility in battle, capable of sweeping enemies off their feet, striking opponents with force, or aiding in balance and agility during rapid movements.

Transparency (透明 Tōmei)

The exosuit possesses the ability to become invisible by blending seamlessly with its surroundings. As explained by Kinta, this invisibility functions similarly to the cloaking technology often depicted in science fiction. The suit achieves this effect through electro-luminescence combined with retro-reflective projection, creating an illusion that replicates the background image visible from any angle, rendering the wearer undetectable to the naked eye.

Size Enhancement

The exosuit can expand both its size and mass, providing the wearer with increased physical presence and strength. The degree of enlargement is determined by the wearer’s preference, with the maximum size reaching an imposing 45 meters in height—large enough to tower over the tallest buildings in Kamigoe City, transforming Bamora into a colossal force capable of dominating large-scale battles.

Clothing Replication

The exosuit features a unique ability to replicate any attire the wearer desires. This is achieved through a scanning process conducted by the core embedded within the suit’s nose horn. By scanning a person’s clothing, the exosuit can precisely mimic both the appearance and material of the attire, allowing the wearer to seamlessly blend into various social environments or adopt disguises for strategic purposes.

Emergency Defense System (緊急防衛システム Kinkyū Bōei Shisutemu)

The exosuit is equipped with an automated emergency defense mechanism designed to engage threats and protect the wearer when manually controlling the suit becomes impossible. However, the activation and deactivation of this system remain unclear, as Bamora inadvertently triggered it when Okarun charged at her with full force. Once activated, Bamora lost control over the suit’s movements, leaving her unable to regain control until Momo and Aira, piloting the Great Kinta Bodhisattva, forcibly deactivated it by delivering a powerful powerbomb maneuver.

Slaughter Mode (大虐殺モード Dai Gyakusatsu Mōdo)

The exosuit can transform into a more ferocious and bestial form known as Slaughter Mode. In this state, the suit increases in size and adopts a more menacing appearance, enhancing its physical power and combat capabilities. This transformation is intended for high-stakes battles, allowing Bamora to overpower larger or more formidable enemies through brute force.

Usage

Bamora primarily uses the exosuit for hand-to-hand combat, taking advantage of its enhanced strength and agility to deliver devastating melee attacks. The suit’s tail serves as an additional offensive tool, capable of delivering powerful whip-like strikes that can knock opponents off balance or deal significant damage. When confronting adversaries who possess superior size or strength, Bamora can activate the exosuit’s size enhancement feature to increase her own mass and match their stature, further boosting her physical power.

The suit’s invisibility function provides a tactical advantage in battle, allowing Bamora to execute surprise attacks or retreat without being detected. Additionally, the suit’s interior is spacious enough to accommodate more than one person, enabling Bamora to conceal her allies within it. This capability was demonstrated when she hid Momo from Reiko Kashima, allowing Momo to shout the word “pomade” and banish the yokai without being seen. Beyond combat, Bamora has also used the suit’s invisibility to observe others unnoticed, such as when she secretly watched a couple kissing to better understand human romantic relationships.

Outside of combat, the exosuit’s clothing replication function allows Bamora to blend into human society. By scanning and replicating the uniform of Momo’s high school, she is able to pass as an ordinary student, facilitating her integration into daily life while maintaining the suit’s functionality for emergencies.
