Personality

Chiquitita exhibits the typical traits of a young child—playful, innocent, and full of joy—often seen with a smile adorning his face. Despite his youthful nature, he has shown remarkable reliability when entrusted with responsibilities. His father relied on him to pilot their spacecraft to extinguish a forest fire in Daija Town, and he also played a key role in rescuing Okarun from being trapped in a magma pit. Additionally, Chiquitita demonstrated maturity and sound judgment by advising Momo against impulsively jumping into the pit to help Okarun, showcasing his level-headedness in critical situations.

Inheriting a peculiar speech habit from his father, Chiquitita ends each of his sentences with the phrase “deisu” (でいス), adding a unique quirk to his character.

Background

Following the onset of the same illness that had tragically claimed his mother’s life, Chiquitita was left under the sole care of his father. Determined to afford the costly treatment needed for his son, Mr. Mantis Shrimp undertook hazardous jobs to earn the specialized currency of their race, known as Mr. Mantis Shrimp money. His pursuit of these earnings ultimately led him to work for an organization called Serpo.

After Mr. Mantis Shrimp procured a cow from Seiko to provide milk essential for Chiquitita’s blood transfusions, the boy’s health significantly improved. Since their home planet could not sustain the animal and Chiquitita required a continuous supply of milk, the father and son decided to relocate to Earth, seeking a more stable environment.

Not long after settling on Earth, Seiko reached out to Mr. Mantis Shrimp and Chiquitita, requesting their help in transporting her and Taro to Daija Town using their spacecraft. Their objective was to meet up with Momo, Okarun, and Jiji. Upon reaching their destination, Chiquitita skillfully piloted the UFO to maneuver the lifeless body of the Tsuchinoko, employing its phlegm to extinguish a wildfire that was ravaging the surrounding forest. Displaying quick thinking and precision, he then utilized the spacecraft’s tools to pull Okarun to safety after the latter became trapped in a pit of molten magma.

Later that day, Chiquitita and his father joined Seiko and the others for an evening meal. During the gathering, Chiquitita overheard Aira voicing her frustration regarding Mr. Mantis Shrimp’s return to Earth. Concerned by her remarks, Chiquitita timidly asked if they were not allowed to remain on the planet. However, Aira’s demeanor shifted after interacting with Chiquitita, and she reassured him with a smile that they were more than welcome to stay. The evening concluded with Chiquitita and Mr. Mantis Shrimp departing for home after enjoying their time with the group.

Evil Eye Arc

Following the destruction of the Ayase residence due to the presence of the Evil Eye, Chiquitita played a key role in reconstructing the home. Using advanced nanoskin technology provided by Ludris, he helped restore the damaged structure. Amid the rebuilding process, Chiquitita also found time to bond with Aira, engaging in playful activities that strengthened their friendship.
