Overview
Biology

The Kur possess a physical form reminiscent of octopuses, characterized by a collection of tentacles in place of a mouth. Their bodies exhibit variation in size, suggesting diversity within their species.
Due to their soft, flexible bodies, the Kur are unable to endure prolonged exposure to planetary atmospheres without the assistance of specialized exosuits. While they can survive for brief periods outside of their suits, the exact duration before fatal consequences occur remains unclear. However, evidence indicates their survival time is less than a full day. This is demonstrated by the Kur that Okarun defeated, who perished sometime between the evening of their battle and the following morning, when Momo returned home to discover her injured friends and the lifeless Kur placed on a bed by Mr. Mantis Shrimp.

Advance Unit
The Advance Unit (先行部隊 Senkō Butai) was a team consisting of ten Kur operatives tasked with locating and eliminating Bamora, as well as activating a portal to summon their main invasion force to Earth. Their pursuit of the female Sumerian led them into direct conflict with the Serpo, Okarun, Aira, and Jiji. During these encounters, the Serpo and Okarun suffered the loss of their technological data, while the Advance Unit also obtained a single kintama—an essential energy source required to activate the gateway for the arrival of their reinforcements.
After successfully opening the portal, the Advance Unit’s mission was ultimately thwarted when they were confronted and defeated by Momo and her allies, preventing the full-scale invasion of Earth.
Inter-species Relationships

As conquerors, the Kur exhibit an aggressive, merciless disposition toward other species. They regard the inhabitants of conquered planets primarily as raw material for crafting advanced exosuits, which they utilize to enhance their capabilities in combat. Creatures with exceptional physical or supernatural abilities are particularly valued, as their unique traits can yield more powerful and effective exosuits. Beyond utilizing organic material, the Kur also exploit any resources or technology left behind by the conquered species, integrating these assets into their military arsenal. Additionally, they may enslave native populations to serve as subordinates, as demonstrated by their manipulation of the Serpo, who were forcibly altered to act as their pawns in the conflict against Momo.
Despite their inherent hostility, the Kur are willing to incorporate powerful individuals from other species into their ranks. Count Saint-Germain stands as a prime example of a non-Kur member who was accepted into their ranks due to his formidable abilities. Similarly, a humanoid alien operating a jet booster exosuit within the Advance Unit indicates that the Kur’s forces include individuals from various species, suggesting a pragmatic approach to strengthening their military capabilities.
Military Strength

The Kur possess immense military prowess, demonstrated by their near-eradication of the Sumerians during their invasion of Sumer. Despite prolonged resistance, the Sumerians struggled to counter the Kur’s advanced warfare tactics and superior strength. Even when deploying only a small contingent to Earth, the Kur swiftly overpowered the Serpo and seized their advanced technology, further amplifying their combat capabilities. Their dominance extended to battles against humans with supernatural abilities, who found themselves outmatched by the Kur’s raw power and technological sophistication. Without Reiko Kashima’s decisive intervention, which resulted in the annihilation of the main invasion force, Earth would have inevitably fallen to the Kur. Rokuro’s warning to Momo and her allies underscored the dire threat posed by the full assembly of the Kur’s military forces, leaving little hope for resistance. Moreover, their alliance with Count Saint-Germain further bolstered their strength, elevating the threat they posed and prompting the Serpo to alert other worlds of the Kur’s growing influence.
Central to the Kur’s military effectiveness is their reliance on advanced exosuits, which are manufactured using a species known as Big Mamas. These creatures are sustained by consuming the native inhabitants of conquered planets, converting organic material into energy that fuels the production of exosuits. While primarily designed to enable the Kur to survive in foreign atmospheres, these exosuits also function as high-performance combat systems. They are equipped with sophisticated weaponry and defensive mechanisms, including the ability to manipulate space and generate protective orbs of vibrational energy around the wearer. The integration of stolen Serpo technology has further augmented the exosuits’ capabilities, solidifying the Kur’s reputation as a nearly unstoppable force on the battlefield.
Spaceships
Main Force

The Kur commanded a primary military fleet (本隊 hontai), composed of numerous spacecraft, with the most formidable among them being a colossal battleship that served as the flagship of their armada. These spacecraft were instrumental during the invasion of Sumer, where they devastated the planet’s landscapes and overwhelmed its defenses. Upon reaching Earth, the Advance Unit activated a dimensional gate within an Empty Space, using Okarun’s kintama as an energy source to sustain its operation. This portal enabled smaller ships from the main fleet to pass through sequentially, gradually assembling the armada until the full force had successfully arrived. However, before the Kur could fully initiate their assault, Okarun managed to close the gate, limiting the invasion’s scale. Despite this setback, the fleet came dangerously close to launching a large-scale attack by destabilizing the Empty Space with their advanced weaponry. Their offensive capabilities threatened to breach Earth’s defenses, but Reiko Kashima intervened, utilizing her supernatural powers to trap the fleet within her mirror. This action immobilized the Kur’s forces, allowing her to destroy the flagship and eradicate the main fleet, preventing the full-scale invasion from taking place.
Synopsis
Kaiju Arc
Within the Serpo base, three Serpo clones sense an unfamiliar presence within their domain. As they issue a warning to the intruder, advanced technology swiftly crushes two of the clones, while the third is seized by an alien figure who asserts ownership over both the Serpos’ belongings and his own.
Meanwhile, Jiji, inadvertently activating a signal from within Bamora’s Kaiju, draws the attention of the same alien. Surrounded by enigmatic beings who appear to be his subordinates, the alien stands atop the fallen Serpo, signaling the beginning of a larger confrontation.
Space Globalists Arc
On their way home from school, Jiji and Aira are unexpectedly transported into Empty Space, where they are confronted by three Kur: Suda Ko Kur, Takonoka Ru Patcho Kur, and Ta Komeshi Kur. The trio attacks with their technologically advanced exosuits, whose destructive power proves overwhelming even for Evil Eye, despite Aira summoning its aid by splashing Jiji with water. After a vicious skirmish, Takonoka Ru Patcho Kur emerges from his exosuit, revealing an octopus-like form that resembles Earth’s cephalopods. Utilizing Shiratori’s hair-ball technique, Jiji and Aira manage to escape detection as the Kur’s life-sign sensors are disrupted by mysterious white orbs that obscure their readings, forcing the aliens to retreat.
Simultaneously, Okarun faces a coordinated assault from Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, Ta Koshin Jo Kur, Head Exosuit Kur, Ta Kowasa Kur, Mantis Exosuit Kur, and Hastur Kur. Despite activating Turbo Granny’s powers and fighting with full force, Okarun is overpowered. The Kur deploy a Serpoian apparatus stolen from the Serpo base to extract Okarun’s Kintama, abducting him to study his physiology. However, before they can complete their mission, Mr. Mantis Shrimp intervenes, rescuing Okarun just as the aliens withdraw due to time constraints.
At the Moe Moe Kikoho maid café, Momo is ambushed by a swarm of clones disguised as customers. Despite her determined resistance, their overwhelming numbers subdue her as they prepare to use another Serpoian device to extract her genitals. A Serpo arrives in time to save her, demanding the return of the device and explaining that the clones can be neutralized by crushing them between two irons. Through their combined efforts, they manage to convert one of the enemy clones into a Serpo. However, the situation escalates when Imotako Kur appears, launching dimensional attacks that render Momo’s strikes ineffective. Drawing inspiration from Seiko’s teachings on the power of words, Momo channels her psychic energy into a “Moe Moe Tri-Beam,” delivering a transdimensional strike that obliterates Imotako Kur and liberates the clones from his control. Grateful for her assistance, Rokuro forms a temporary alliance with Momo.
Back at the Ayase Residence, Mr. Mantis Shrimp tends to the wounded, including the Head Exosuit Kur, who succumbs to injuries inflicted by Okarun. While scavenging the exosuit, Momo discovers an energy orb identical to Bamora’s. This discovery leads Ayase to suspect her of colluding with the aliens, resulting in her expulsion from the household. Meanwhile, Rokuro reveals the Kur’s identity as extraterrestrial globalists whose advanced exosuits compensate for their limited numbers. The Advance Unit’s objective is to summon their main force using stolen energy, with Okarun’s Kintama serving as a crucial power source. Given the possibility that the Kur may attempt to harness the teenagers’ yokai powers, Rokuro estimates they have only five days to recover the Kintama before the full-scale invasion begins.
Taking refuge in the abandoned Serpo base, Momo, Jiji, Aira, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp utilize combat simulators to train against holographic representations of the Kur.
On the day of the Kur Invasion, the Family is ambushed inside their car and blown up by the aliens. Jiji, Aira, and the Dover Demon engage the attackers in combat, while Momo and Rokuro search for the Kintama. Initially struggling against their opponents, the trio regains the upper hand when Jiji utilizes his “Evil Gun” to defeat Ta Kowasa Kur, forcing him out of his damaged exosuit. Meanwhile, Momo and Rokuro are confronted by Ta Koshin Jo Kur and Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, but Bamora arrives in her Kaiju and defeats Ta Koshin Jo Kur. The leader of the Advance Unit, Hastur Kur, appears shortly after, aiding Jet Booster Exosuit Kur in subduing Bamora and executing her. As Momo attempts to save her, she is overwhelmed by Bamora’s aura, experiencing visions of Bamora’s life on Sumer during the Kur invasion.
In the flashback, Bamora is depicted fighting alongside Banga, Aja, and Tome against the Kur, who use Big Mama to produce exosuits by consuming Sumerian soldiers. During a mission to rescue enslaved Sumerians near the Pyramid—used by the Kur as a base for offerings to Big Mama—Bamora’s squad is nearly wiped out. Desperately seeking salvation, Banga discovers and dons the God of Sumer exosuit, rallying the remaining soldiers to reclaim their planet. Amidst the chaos, the squad discovers the warp gate within the Pyramid, but it has enough energy to transport only one person. Bamora’s stepmother sacrifices herself to ensure Bamora escapes through the gate, while the Kur vow to pursue her across the universe.
Back in the present, Rokuro uses a Serpoian device to revive Bamora at the cost of his own life, causing the protective shield around them to collapse and resuming the battle. Okarun arrives in Empty Space, unveiling his mastery over the spiral power, which empowers the trio to defeat the Advance Unit using the combined techniques of Jiji’s “Evil Gun” and Okarun’s “Pirouette, Noble Drill.” However, additional ships begin emerging from the warp gate, providing reinforcements for Hastur Kur and Jet Booster Exosuit Kur. Overwhelmed, Momo is rescued by Okarun’s spiral powers and the arrival of the Family, with Jiji fully embracing his Evil Eye form. As the final battle commences, Ayase discovers that Hastur Kur’s back acts as a dimensional storage space. By synchronizing her powers with Okarun’s, they defeat the leader of the Advance Unit. Nevertheless, Hastur Kur survives by taking control of Bamora’s exosuit and hurling her into the void.
Kinta, having read a note intended for Seiko, arrives on a nanoskin motorbike and merges with Bamora’s exosuit, forming the colossal Great Kinta. The two titans engage in a fierce battle, culminating in Great Kinta replicating Aira and Momo’s power bomb technique to defeat Hastur Kur.
Although the Advance Unit is vanquished, the warp gate fully opens, allowing the main fleet to arrive. Their assault begins to tear apart Empty Space, but Reiko Kashima intervenes, seeking vengeance against Momo. Witnessing the Kur’s attacks triggers memories of her tragic death during the war, prompting her to smash her mirror, which replicates her punches across every shard within the city and aboard the fleet’s ships. This action annihilates the Kur fleet and traps their remains inside her mirror. After acknowledging the bond between Okarun and Momo, Reiko departs, causing Empty Space to close and restoring peace.
With the threat eliminated, the Serpo examine the data retrieved from Hastur Kur, confirming that the Kur originate from the depths of space, systematically invading planets as they expand their dominion. Their analysis also reveals a connection between the Kur and the enigmatic Count Saint-Germain, suggesting his collaboration with the alien invaders.
Kozuka Knives Arc
Following the invasion, the operator of the Jet Booster Exosuit awakens in a desolate area, separated from her damaged suit. Confronted by Count Saint-Germain, she instinctively assumes a defensive stance. Gesturing toward her broken exosuit, Saint-Germain notes that she will require a replacement, given its compromised state. Curious about his intentions, she inquires what he seeks from her. Saint-Germain offers her assistance with a particular issue, emphasizing that she is free to decline. However, he points out that without his help, she will struggle to endure Earth’s heavy gravity, a difficulty she visibly experiences as she struggles to maintain her balance. Faced with this reality, the alien must decide whether to accept Saint-Germain’s offer of assistance.
Trivia
- The name Kur originates from the Sumerian language, where it refers to the Mesopotamian underworld. When used in the context of the underworld, the term directly translates to “Ground.”
- The Kur’s physical appearance outside their exosuits bears a striking resemblance to Cthulhu, the extraterrestrial deity conceptualized by H. P. Lovecraft. Their octopus-like features and otherworldly nature align with the iconic imagery associated with Lovecraft’s cosmic horror. Additionally, the Kur’s design appears to draw inspiration from the Martians depicted in H. G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. Their tentacle-like limbs and alien physiology mirror the descriptions of Martians in the novel, with Hastur Kur exhibiting an especially close resemblance to Wells’ portrayal of the extraterrestrial invaders.
