Background

Synopsis

Kintama Hunt Saga

Cursed House Arc

After discovering Hana’s whereabouts, Taro hastily leaves the school, determined to reunite with her. However, his sudden departure draws the attention of Momo, Okarun, and Jiji. Momo, believing the Christmas ornament attached to Taro’s crotch to be Okarun’s missing kintama, uses her psychic abilities to stop him. Ignoring their interference, Taro desperately tries to escape their pursuit, ultimately freeing himself from Momo’s psychic hold by disassembling his body. Despite his success, Taro loses his heart to Momo, who begins striking it to track him. The pain causes Taro to cry out, and soon, Momo, Okarun, and Jiji catch up to him. Upon hearing Hana’s muffled voice beneath a pile of garbage, Taro rushes to uncover her. Yet, Hana, resigned to her fate, pleads with him to leave her. Refusing to abandon her, Taro passionately confesses his love, touching her heart.

Moved by Taro’s devotion, Momo offers Hana a place to stay at her home. In return, Taro agrees to return to the school, provided he can visit Hana at night. That evening, as he eagerly heads to the Ayase residence, Taro unexpectedly encounters a group of schoolchildren who panic at his sudden appearance. In the ensuing chaos, Taro is struck by a truck, delaying his meeting with Hana.

Later, Taro joins forces with the Dover Demon and Chiquitita to help Seiko combat the Evil Eye, a malevolent spirit that has possessed Jiji. Using talismans, they temporarily seal the spirit inside Taro’s hollow body after he removes his organs. Following the battle, Seiko expresses her gratitude, prompting Taro to ask what to do with his displaced organs. Seiko nonchalantly suggests storing them in a grocery bag.

While residing at the Ayase residence, Taro continues to contain the Evil Eye within himself as Momo, Seiko, and Manjiro attempt to exorcise it from Jiji. When their efforts fail, Taro and the others join the Ayase family for dinner. During the meal, Taro unwittingly discovers a crucial weakness of the Evil Eye: after feeding Jiji a hot dish of oden, the young man’s reaction causes the spirit to weaken its grip. Seiko deduces that Jiji can regain control of his body through exposure to heat, while cold temperatures force the Evil Eye to manifest. Seizing the opportunity, Taro questions Seiko about how long he must continue hosting Jiji’s spirit, as it interferes with his private moments with Hana. Seiko, unimpressed by Taro’s complaints, sets a curfew of ten o’clock for his nighttime visits with Hana, much to Taro’s dismay.

The following day, Taro begrudgingly accompanies Jiji to the hospital to visit his parents. Irritated by Jiji’s awkward behavior and misplaced compliments, Taro struggles to maintain composure. Upon arriving at the hospital, Taro attempts to synchronize his movements to match the emotional reunion between Jiji and his recovering parents, as advised by Momo and Okarun. Unfortunately, his efforts fall flat, resulting in an awkward and unconvincing display.

Evil Eye Arc

Once the protective barrier formed by the talismans weakens and dissipates, Seiko grants Taro permission to separate himself from Jiji. Relieved to no longer bear the strain, Taro eagerly takes the opportunity to relax and restore his body to its natural state.

Abilities and Powers

Natural Abilities

Physical Prowess

Immense Speed: Taro demonstrates astonishing swiftness, moving at a pace that rivals Okarun’s accelerated speed when transformed into Turbo Granny. His rapid movements generate such force that he can propel Momo forward even as she clings to him using her psychic powers.

Immense Stamina & Endurance: Taro’s endurance is formidable, enabling him to sustain his maximum speed over long distances. This was evident when he sprinted from Kami High to a distant junkyard without slowing down, determined to rescue Hana despite the physical strain.

Disassembly: Thanks to his anatomical nature, Taro can disassemble and reconstruct his body parts at will. This unique ability serves multiple purposes, such as breaking free from Momo’s telekinetic grasp by separating his limbs. However, his disassembly inadvertently allowed Momo to seize his heart, leaving him vulnerable to internal pain whenever she targeted it. Additionally, Taro used this skill to contain the Evil Eye’s influence over Jiji. By wrapping Jiji’s possessed body with his hollow frame and reinforcing it with Seiko’s sealing talismans, he managed to suppress the spirit’s control. However, maintaining this form required him to remove his internal organs temporarily and expend significant energy to keep himself attached to Jiji, ultimately leaving him completely drained when the talismans’ effects wore off.

Urban Legend

A widely circulated school rumor speaks of an anatomical model that mysteriously comes to life after nightfall. This figure, usually stationed in the science lab, is said to observe anyone who enters, with its eyes eerily following their every movement, fueling fear and speculation among students.
